Description

The receptor binding domain, locating within the S1 subunit of the Spike Protein of the new coronavirus is how the virus enters host cells, using the host ACE-2 receptor. We have produced this RBD protein recombinantly in our plants and fused the gene to a Rabbit IgG Fc peptide tag. This allows easy binding to protein A and detection using common anti-Rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibodies. This protein is available in 100ug research amounts, as well as bulk mg amounts. It’s a preferred protein for two of our local test kit manufacturers and has been proven to bind the ACE-2 receptor in ELISA and SPR studies.

General notes The spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 is known to interact with the ACE2 receptor on human respiratory epithelial cells. The receptor binding domain (RBD) is part of the S1 subunit of the spike and is responsible for recognising the ACE2 receptor.
